A Brief Introduction
Greetings, my name is Jason Douglas Creel, and I am a third year family practice resident at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. John Peter Smith is a county hospital serving the Fort Worth/Dallas area similar to Atlanta‘s Grady Hospital. I plan to eventually return to my home state of Georgia where I lived until I was twenty-four years old.
I am now thirty-four years old, married, and the proud father of a baby girl with another one on the way. I grew up in Gwinnett County where I graduated from Central Gwinnett High School and then graduated from North Georgia College with a degree in Biology. A brief business venture led me to Texas where I completed two years in a graduate clinical psychology program at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Graduate school is where I met my beautiful wife whom I owe much gratitude for her unconditional support. In graduate school I was introduced to and became interested in Osteopathic Medicine (For more information on Osteopathic Medicine, please see http://www.aoa-net.org/). In the U.S., osteopathic medical schools are less common than traditional allopathic institutions.
My interest in osteopathic medicine stemmed from the emphasis on holistic medicine. The holistic approach seemed perfect for my aspiration to become a family practice physician which includes all aspects of patient care, from delivering babies to terminal health care needs. Therefore, I attended and graduated from medical school at the North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. (continued....)
