Curriculum Guide

Goals and Objectives the road map of an early childhood curriculum. They enable parents and teachers to respond to each child individually, to build on strengths and target skills that need strengthening. Because early childhood should be focused on "the whole child" to promote learning, the curriculum at Appletree focus on all aspects of development.

Social / Emotional Development: Children's feelings about themselves, the development of responsibility, and their ability to relate positively
to others.

Physical Development: Children's gross and fine motor development

Cognitive Development: Children's thinking skills and development of symbolic and problem solving skills.

Language Development: Children's ability to communicate through words, both spoken and written.

Expanded vocabulary and language development utilizing informal conversations, songs / rhythmic / fingerplays / movement activities
firsthand experiences; phonological awareness; knowledge of print; letters and words; comprehension.

• Mathematics
Engaging in mathematical problem solving; learning to reason by sorting, classifying, patterning, and graphing, learning to make
connections by looking for opportunities to focus on math in everyday routines and activities.

Asking scientific questions; planning conducting investigation; gathering data; constructing explanations and communicating
findings; observing objets with crudity; respecting and caring for classroom environment and materials

• Social Studies
Providing board games; creating an obstacle course for children to maneuver; hands-on lab experiment; dramatic play.

• Arts
