Still others refuse to lay blame upon any one specific person or event. They're choosing to focus their efforts on their new direction - doing their best to create some sort of positive spin on the matter. What ever the reason, many Democrats are expected to defect from their party and join either independents or the Republicans in a drastic effort to salvage what's left of their political career. Most of those expected to make the move won't do so immediately following Tuesday's election results. Many have a great deal of strategizing to work out which will rely greatly on Tuesday's outcome and the fallout to follow. Some races are so close that many run-offs are a given, which will postpone some defections a good deal. Included in those strategy meetings will undoubtedly be attempts to avoid dealing with the Democratic Damage Control Patrol all together. The remaining Democrats will want these meetings to be face to face, hoping to bring strength in numbers in an effort to persuade the defector to remain with the party. Defectors will be trying their hardest to utilize video teleconferencing to say their goodbyes as much as possible for obvious reasons. Party defection is nothing new. It has occured many, many times in our nation's past and will most likely continue to occur in the future. What makes this particular event so important is the record number of defections expected to occur in the near future. In fact, some have already jumped ship: Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist and Scott Angelle have all left the Democratic party - to name just a few... Care to comment or contribute to this story?
