Atlanta Firm Invents World's First Handgun-Camera enabling ‘Corner-Shots’ from Safety

This brand new technology enables individuals to defend themselves and their loved ones by effectively firing from around corners, from below business counters and from other areas of safety – well away from the line-of-fire. In models almost as small as a US Half Dollar - AmeriCam Atlanta’s “GunPro-LIVEÔ” seems to have turned the table on home-invaders and predators alike by placing the advantage into the hands of their victims. Individuals who keep firearms in their homes to defend against intruders now have a device that makes it much safer to do so, according to company co-founder and system designer Paul Martin of AmeriCam Atlanta. He went on to outline for us ten ways his company’s new gun-cam technology provides advantages to those trying to protect themselves and their families from hostile intruders. Mr. Martin expressed very emphatically that his company makes it abundantly clear to customers that attempts to diffuse dangerous situations and decrease the likelihood of gunfire should always be made first, when safe to do so. He explained that firearm discharge should always be used as a last resort, and that his company’s products are especially useful in reaching peaceful resolutions as well as protecting innocent victims. “Keeping people safe while affording them time to take in additional - vital information is what our company’s new product lis designed to do first” – stated Mr. Martin. “So often in the past, during times of danger - those defending their homes and loved ones in the middle of the night, instinctively grabbed their guns and fired in fear or panic. They discharged their weapons without having the time to learn what they really needed to proceed safely and effectively. We feel our new GunPro gun-cams can help prevent a great deal of pain and heartache that lays in the aftermath of events ended poorly” Mr. Martin explained. AmeriCam Atlanta is a Georgia company founded by Mr. Martin and a gentleman named Ross Kelly, a graduate of Harvard University and former Vice President of Hewlett Packard. Originally, the company custom-designed and sold intelligent car camera systems. The company’s design team, lead by Mr. Martin, spent almost a year developing their most recent line of products, which is currently being manufactured in China. Gun cameras originated over a decade ago by a company that developed them for automatic assault rifles to be used in military conflicts. Keeping soldiers safe and out of the line-of-fire by arming them with “corner-shot” weapons seemed like a great idea for several decades. Unfortunately, the devices never gained widespread use because of their high cost, which originally exceeded $10,000. AmeriCam’s cameras for handguns are much more affordably priced at far less than the guns themselves cost. Entry-level systems begin at just under $200. More expensive models such as their ‘Night-Vision’ equipped units cost a bit more.
The company’s current line of firearm enhancements is best used with a Smart-Phone strapped to the inside of the user’s forearm - as was recently demonstrated for us in their Buford facility. ( please reference image ‘1-B’ above ) A prototype of a system that will become available in early 2016 features a pair of “Smart-Glasses” that displays GunPro’s live video stream in one of its lenses - effecting what’s called a “heads-up display” configuration. It immediately became obvious to us that keeping one’s head up and trained on their surrounding area instead of angled downward and focused on their forearm - can improve overall situational awareness. · Night-Vision models enable detection of predators without turning on a light and giving their position away · Continuous-Recording feature whenever in-use generates very valuable and credible evidence for law enforcement. Keeping innocent family members out of courtrooms and prison is an advantage we can all agree with. · Greater firing accuracy can be achieved by lining up the red cross-hairs on GunPro’s SmartPhone App - with the target’s center-of-mass. This newly enhanced ability assures users of much greater accuracy. · Decreased Incidents of Friendly Fire can be achieved when GunPro users are afforded the time to identify potential intruders and evaluate their actual threat level - without placing themselves in danger. This advantage extends to civilians and law enforcement alike. "With GunPro-LIVEÔ” - The safest shot is often the one never taken” - is an expression heard often in reference to GunPro. Availability of product may very well become an issue this holiday season according to company comptroller Debbie Creel. “If demand continues to increase the way it’s been, we won’t be able to keep enough product on-hand to cover all orders during the holidays." Mrs. Creel continued: "Our company can only build so many systems at a time, and it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get product from China this time of year. By the time new units arrive, they’ may already be sold. We’re urging customers to get their orders in as soon as possible if delivery by late December is to be guaranteed” added Mrs. Creel. <--> |
