New “study” released: "Google supreme for search - Yahoo for mail"...BIG SURPRISE![]()
The “study” completely dismissed the fact that Google has simply developed a much better Internet search engine product and users are drawn to its surperior quality. The latest round of strawgrasping Google-bashing disinformation refers to a "study" reportedly done by some obscure company - which was most likely funded by Google's competitors. Articles parroting data from the supposed study are peppered with various negative references about Google made by reputable media sources over the years to help bolster its false claims. The most surprising claim the study makes is that its research found Yahoo and Microsoft's search content to be of higher quality than Google's. That claim alone speaks volumes to the integrity and motivation of the PR effort. Yahoo does a great job with email, Google has, by far, the best Internet search engine and the Middle-East produces a mean barrel of crude oil. With its sites fielding 53.1% of all U.S. searches in April, Google showed a 6.6% gain since April 2005. Yahoo claims to have maintained its search market share during the same period. Since April 2005, it has seen its search share decline considerably. MSN experienced another decline in March of this year and a hefty decline since April 2005. Americans made 6.6 billion online searches in April, 4% more than in March. A new player has gained sixth place: social networking site MySpace, which processed 43 million search queries. Though that only represents 0.6% of the U.S. search market, the site's rapidly growing user base, supposedly close to 80 million, ensures that it will be a significant player in the search market in the months to come. <-->--> |
