Let’s get Ethics Reform passed in Georgia
GDO Report... As Reported From CommonCauseGeorgia.org
This year, we have a good chance to enact a law that holds local officials accountable, with SB 96This bill in the state senate would require local governments throughout Georgia to establish an Ethics Panel, creating a system where citizens have legal recourse when a public official steps over the line and acts in their own personal interest.Even though we have laws that require public officials to serve the public’s interest, there’s practically no enforcement of this in Georgia short of criminal prosecution. That’s why we need your help. Please write Ethics Committee Chairman Joe Wilkinson and urge the committee to pass SB 96. Urge Chairman Wilkinson to pass Ethics ReformCommon Cause Georgia has been working hard for several years to help make it easy for citizens of Georgia to file a complaint when a local elected official acts in a conflicted manner. |
