Man Crashes Car Through Front of Gwinnett "Cash for Gold" Store
According to officials at the scene, the incident appears to be intentional. However, all the witnesses had not yet been fully interviewed so the investigation is ongoing. The driver could not be interviewed as he was trapped inside his vehicle. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched and paramedics had to extract him. He was then taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. According to one witness, the driver of the vehicle was said to have had a disagreement with the store's clerk concerning the value of some gold jewelry. The witness stated that the man had sold his jewlery to the store earlier and later found out the jewlery he sold was worth a great deal more than the store had told him. Feeling cheated and outraged, the man then returned to the store Friday morning to learn that his gold had already been melted and sold off wholesale. The witnesses story could not be verified or corroborated by any other party so it is pure conjecture at this point. Neither the store's owner nor the clerk would comment. Gwinnett County gold buying laws prohibit stores from selling or melting what they purchase for a period of thirty days. This gives authorities the opportunity to determine if items sold were related to crime in any way. Neither the store owner nor the clerk were willing to make a statement on the matter. The driver of the car also refused to comment on the matter and his name was not released.
