Celebrations as the 'Prince of al-Qaeda' dies in US air strike

GDO Report

Zarqawi’s death is a major victory for America, for the war against terror and even for victory in Iraq.  According to reports, he was personally involved in death of Nicholas Berg, and thousands of others.

At least, one U.S. Senator is elated by the news.  Mary Landrieu of Louisiana had these comments:

United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today released the following statement regarding the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:

“The war against terrorism, like any war, will have victories and defeats.  Today, we celebrate a victory.  American armed forces, working in coordination with our allies, successfully located the al-Zarqawi’s hiding place and attacked him.  Osama bin Laden called al-Zarqawi the ‘Prince of Iraq.’  Through the exemplary bravery of our men and women in uniform, this is one al-Qaeda prince that will no longer threaten the lives of innocent people around the globe.

“General George Casey, our military commander in Iraq, deserves praise for this victory.  Additionally, I would like to say a word of gratitude to the people who are most responsible for this success -- the rank and file intelligence officers and analysts that were able to provide this vital information to our military.  It is a difficult and laborious task that requires tremendous intellect, cunning and insight, but rarely provides much glory.  Yet the success of these young men and women is vital to our effort to combat global terrorism.  The People of Louisiana and people all over the world thank you for the work you are doing and look forward to further success.”
