CAROLINA quarterback Jake Delhomme threw a pair touchdowns before the Panthers defence held off a late rally guided by Green Bay quarterback to record a 32-29 win over the Packers.

Panthers running back Stephen Davis scored on an uncoverted one-yard plunge just 12 seconds into the final period, to give Carolina (2-2) y a seemingly comfortable 32-13 margin.

However, the winless Packers responded when Favre connected first with Donald Lee for a 16-yard TD strike, and then tight end David Martin for the two-point conversion to trim the deficit to 32-21 with just under 12 minutes to go.

Favre, who completed 28 of 47 passes for 303 yards, marched Green Bay on its next possession and capped the 13-play, 90-yard drive by hitting Antonio Chatman in the back of the end zone with a four-yard score.

Robert Ferguson hauled in the two-point pass to bring the Packers within a field goal with 3:13 remaining.

The Packers got the ball back at their own 37 with 1:58 left and marched to the Carolina 42 before the drive stalled, dropping Green Bay to its first 0-4 start since 1988.

Delhomme completed 17 of 24 for 206 yards and no interceptions, and Davis gained 51 yards on 19 carries.
