Metro Atlanta HardiPlank Fiber Cement Siding Contractors
James Hardie Building Products has launched Streetscapes, a free program designed to keep builders, architects and city planners up-to-date on the latest trends in building communities that feature the planning principles of New Urbanism. "There has been a national trend to create smarter communities with interesting architecture that are walkable, sustainable and have a sense of place," said Denese Bottrell, corporate communications manager, James Hardie Building Products. "We thought it was important to capture information about these communities and to share it with people involved in the homebuilding industry." Initially, James Hardie produced Streetscapes, a four-color magazine that profiles communities in 16 states. The communities profiled are: East Beach in Norfolk, VA; Cherry Hill Village in Canton Township, MI; Summerset at Frick Park in Pittsburgh, PA; Daybreak in South Jordan, UT; Prairie Crossing in Lake County, IL; Ladera Ranch in Orange County, CA; Providence and Savannah in North Dallas, TX; The Georgia Club by the Georgia Club Land Company in Athens, GA; Artisan Park, RiverCamps, WaterColor, Rivertown, Southwood and WaterSound in Norwest, FL; Regent Development and Lenox Village, in Nashville, TN; Issaquah Highlands and Poulsbo Place in Seattle, WA; Liberty on the Lake, Dancing Waters and Cobblestone Lake in Twin Cities, MN; Reunion in Atlanta, GA; Verrado in Phoenix, AZ; The Village of West Clay in Carmel, IN; Belle Creek, Bradburn and Stapleton in Denver, CO. Streetscapes also profiles and provides insights from some of the leading experts in New Urbanism planning, design and construction. These include: Andres Duany, FAIA and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, whose firm, Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company (DPZ), has co-designed more than 140 neighborhoods, towns and cities; Peter Pfeiffer, FAIA, a principal with Barley & Pfeiffer Architects, a national leader in the field of energy-conserving green design; Jim Sargent, GMB, CGB, specializes in creating environmentally sustainable houses and is the first builder to have earned the Master Builder designation from the Energy & Environmental Building Association; Dr. John Straube, P.Eng., an associate professor of civil engineering at the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and a consultant on building design, moisture physics and whole-building performance; Joseph Lstiburek, BASC, MENG, Ph.D., PENG, a principal of the Building Science Corporation, and an authority on moisture-related building problems and indoor air quality; and Sarah Susanka, FAIA , author of The Not So Big House, which is a noted resource on how to build better, not bigger homes.
