ATLANTA - The premise is simple, but the results are impressive. Every week, Fullerton, Calif.-based Sevenly sells one new, original design on T-shirts and hoodies and donates $7 per sale to its charity of choice.

When the week is up, so is the opportunity to buy that particular design. The limited window creates a sense of urgency to purchase, says Dale Partridge, who founded Sevenly with friend Aaron Chavez.

The Business of Building Artificial Reefs
GDO Report
ATLANTA - An aquatic exhibits designer crafts a plan to reinvigorate his state's marine life and fishing industry.  New Jersey launched its artificial reef program in 1984 to increase habitats for ocean life. There are opponents who say artificial reefs are kill zones where fishing boats can trawl for easy catches.

Wojcik disagrees; he firmly believes the reefs create more habitats and expand the areas where sea life can propagate, which is good for those species, the environment and the state's fishing industry. He also hopes the reef will become a draw for scuba divers anxious to learn about the species it houses.

GDO Report
ATLANTA - Orville Thompson admits that, at one time, he was "a hack entrepreneur." He sold a variety of wares at fairs and trade shows, but he wasn't prepared for the post-9/11 recession. Bills mounted. He told his wife, Heidi, that he was thinking of declaring bankruptcy.

Anxious to prevent this--and unwilling to leave their creditors high and dry--Heidi urged Orville to keep trying. He found his next great hope, Scentsy, at a home and garden show in March 2004 in Salt Lake City.
